The "Trotter" pattern, Dior’s iconic monogram, was introduced in 1967 by Marc Bohan, who led the house from 1960 to 1989. Inspired by equestrian culture, the pattern was crafted from green plaid wool felt originally used for horse blankets and saddle pads. Bohan, known for modernizing Dior with a more relaxed elegance, transformed this utilitarian fabric into a symbol of luxury, marking a shift in the house’s identity during the late '60s. The "Trotter" design later became a staple in Dior accessories and saw a major revival in the early 2000s under John Galliano.
